The short version. Run a special event in the app, and if you finish within its winning places you get the free days of STEUD+ shown on the event. There's nothing to claim: the prize is added to your account automatically when the results come out. Apple isn't a sponsor of these events and isn't involved in them in any way.
The organiser
Special events and their prizes are run by Thomas Martin, the developer of STEUD, in the United Kingdom. Contact: hello@steud.app.
Apple is not a sponsor of STEUD's events or prizes and is not involved in them in any way.
Entering
- An event is open between the start and end times shown in the app. Times are set in UTC.
- To enter, run the event's distance in STEUD while it's open, then submit the run. Entry is free, except that events marked STEUD+ are only open to subscribers.
- One person, one entry. Each account can submit one run per event, and entering the same event from more than one account isn't allowed.
- The run must be your own, on foot, and recorded by the app on your phone or Apple Watch. Runs that fail the app's checks can't be submitted.
Winners
- Runs are ranked by finishing time, fastest first, once the event closes and the 30 minutes allowed for late submissions has passed.
- Everyone who finishes within the winning places shown on the event wins. If runners tie on time, they share the place, so more people than the number of winning places can win.
- Runs the app's checks flag can be reviewed. A time that doesn't look genuine may be disqualified before the results come out, and the organiser's decision is final.
The prize
- The prize is the number of days of STEUD+ shown on the event. It's added automatically to the account that ran, and the result notification says so. There's nothing to claim.
- If you already have STEUD+, the prize days start when your current STEUD+ ends: after your current paid period, or after an earlier prize. A prize doesn't pause or change an App Store subscription, so if your subscription renews, you're already covered for those days and the prize days run alongside it.
- The prize ends on its own when the days run out. Nothing renews and nothing is charged.
- The prize has no cash value. It can't be exchanged or transferred to another account, and there's no cash alternative.
- Accounts in STEUD are anonymous, so the prize belongs to the account, not to you as a person. If you delete your account, or reinstall the app and start a new account without restoring purchases, the prize is lost.
Changes and cancellation
An event can be changed or cancelled before it opens. If something goes wrong once it's open, such as a fault that stops runs being recorded or ranked fairly, the organiser may cancel it or award the prize as fairly as possible.
Your data
Running an event uses the same data as any other race, described in the privacy policy: your anonymous account, your time and your finishing position. No extra details are needed to receive a prize.

These rules are governed by the law of England and Wales. Nothing in them affects your statutory rights.
